In today’s Everyday Story we look at the Irini Toufexis story. Irini was born in Cyprus. At the age of three Irini and the family moved to London and she lived in Stamford Hill, Hackney.
In 1992 she successfully had two number one hits in the soul charts with tracks like 24/7 which became an iconic track in the soul world. Singer , songwriter, model and dancer Irini’s had talent in abundance.
In 1993 she won best newcomer in the Black Music Awards.
Her career has come to a juddering halt due to a life changing MS condition. On a recent trip to Cyprus where she now resides I met with Irini and the family where we reminisced on Irini’s career.
With the backdrop of her music, archive TV material, interviews with DJs and Producers, this is the Irini’s every day story.
