In today production in the Moment’s with Marley series I the pleasure of   interviewing a special guest from Jamaica who has met Bob Marley.

Maureen Sheridan is the author of Bob Marley, the Stories behind every song.

Born in the UK, she has lived in Germany, Canada and moved to Jamaica in 1981 for the love of the music.

She has worked with the likes of Bunny Wailer, Peter Tosh, Record Producer and owner of Island Records, Chris Blackwell, and former Ms World and partner to Bob Marley Cindy Breaksphere.

Maureen has set up a charity in Jamaica which runs a sanctuary for dogs.

In the second podcast in the Moments with Marley Series I meet Jana Mills who named his company after the Marley classic Small Axe.

On April 12, 2015, Freddie Carlos Gray, Jr., a 25-year-old Black American man, was arrested by the Baltimore Police Department for possessing what the police alleged was an illegal switchblade under Baltimore law. While being transported in a police van, Gray fell into a coma and was taken to a trauma center. The podcast cover the period that followed the death of Freddie Grey and was produced in 2015.

Sandra is a poet, writer, story teller and works with the community developing arts based literature projects especially from an African Caribbean genre. Sandra was born in London and lives in Hackney. She has chosen her Moment with Marley, with the classic track Redemption Song. This podcast captures her experiences growing up in in the UK, especially during the period of the riots in the late 1970s, and the importance of the lyrics for the African Caribbean community.
